copying

I am confused as to why you are having him copy letters, circles, squares, etc. It's completely inappropriate to have a four year old copying these things. I agree with the other poster, just give him blank paper and let
him draw. Drawing is much more important at this age than copying. Don't give him coloring books. He should be using blank paper. That way, he can make his own lines and experiment with color, shape, design, etc. It's not important and it's pretty useless to formerly present these things to a four year old. If this child is experiencing this great anxiety at not being perfect at
4, imagine what life be like when he's older. Let him be a kid for now. All of those things you mentioned he can do are nice, but not really appropriate expectations of a four year old. I'd suggest looking into some developmentally appropriate practice literature.
By the way, Are you in early childhood or in elementary ed?
