Our school started using the program Step-Up to Writing about three years ago, and I love it! It starts very basic, with a 5 sentence expository paragraph, it has a specific format that it uses all the way through, and you just keep building on the Topic, Fact, Fact, Fact, Conclusion format. It is really amazing, and turns kids into really great writers (especially those lower kids who stick to the form like glue). The format takes students from 5 sentence paragraphs all the way through stories, and essays. Let me know if you want more information!
