Trailblazers
By Kristin

Clip to ScrapBook
My district uses Trailblazers. A lot of our teachers don't care for it, but I try to stay positive about it. The series spirals in that it touches a topic in one unit and revisits it in a later unit. Some feel the students
need to master the topic the first time while the program insists you go on even if mastery isn't there and they will catch on when it is revisited. Each lesson starts off with some Daily Practice Problems (DPP). These are usually a short review of previous lessons. Another frustration many teachers have is the organization of the lesson plans and the reproducibles. I too was frustrated.
This year I am moving into a classroom that has reorganized the program. She tore out everything needed for each unit and put it in a file folder. That way when you get to unit 4 all you have to do is get the file folder and make copies of everything inside. This saves time from flipping pages and books trying to get everything together. This will only be my second year teaching but if you have any questions e-mail me and I will be happy to help.
