requirements

Clip to ScrapBook
CLAD is a cultural and language requirement. You have to have taken a certain number of higher-level foreign language courses to qualify. It's not required for a credential. It's just an additional certification. But
the state is eliminating the CLAD credential beginning December of 2003, so it may not make a big difference for you either way.

The CBEST is a piece of cake. Unfortunately, to teach elementary school, you also have to pass the MSAT, which is definitely not a piece of cake.

You won't be able to get a full-time teaching job in a public school unless you've passed CBEST, and I doubt

if you'd be able to take it and get your results in time to get a job for this year. Your best bet is probably subbing for a year. You have to pass CBEST to sub, but they give the test pretty often, so you would probably be able to start subbing in a few months. Good luck!
