It is interesting

I know what you mean, I've had a few questions myself in the past. And now my brother lives in the States so we have learned about more of the subtle differences as well. For example we use the word holidays for any time off, whereas it seems the States uses the word Vacation for when you are off work and holidays only for actual holidays. It can all get a little confusing

I guess he caused some confusion when he said he wanted to take his holidays during a certain week and they had no idea what he was getting at. Of course they figured out fairly quickly, but they also had a good laugh at how easy it was to get the message mixed up.
