scribblers

Clip to ScrapBook
I think they might just be called note books in other places.

Basically it's a bound book of paper. The ones we use in grade one are smaller than 8 1/2 by 11 and have the paper with interlines (dotted lines) on them.

Older grades may use the coil notebooks but we prefer these ones as they are interlined.

The ones that are half blank we use for journals so the students can write on the bottom of the page and draw a picture on the top part. I think I will use one for sentence writing this year as well where they will write a sentence and draw a picture to illustrate their sentence.

I know it's

similar to doing a journal - but with a journal I do not set expectations for the students but instead simply encourage them to write first and then draw. I use their journals as a tool for assessing how their writing develops over the course of the year. It's something I can easily show to parents.

I hope I've answered your question, please let me know if I wasn't clear enough.
