Last year we adopted a character ed curriculum and I got this idea of asking the community grocery stores for paperbags the students would draw on displaying the char ed word of the month. The 5th and 6th grade teachers loved
the idea and the principal thought it was great. So we had each grade rotate to prepare a bbd and everyday different bags were displayed on our char ed bbd. One from each class was kept to give to our school psychologist to take to our state meeting. At the end of each month and after all monthly bags were displayed, the bags were returned to the grocery stores which were used for bagging

groceries for their customers. People really like seeing what the students drew on the bags.

This year we will do the same and add char ed t-shirt day. I have created a back to school activity around mixing cookie recipes which will be used for our first fund raiser and the money used will buy plain white t-shirts where students will add their artistry touch for each monthly char ed word to wear the next day. By the end of the year students will have this t-shirt to take home. I think this will be fun too. Have a great year of wellness!!
