I can sympathise with you. I think many of us have been in your situation ( and probably the new teacher's too.)

My best advise would be to not comment on anything negative that the girl has to say. Change the subject. Never make comments in a negative light. Your positivity will wear off on that teacher, hopefully, just as negativity from another grade level influenced her before.

I just left a very negative team. It did cloud my thinking. After hearing griping all the time, I felt free to voice negative comments, mainly to be included in conversation I now believe. Now that I am in a new grade level where everyone is so laid back, nothing bothers them, I feel so much better myself.

Your team may be the life-saving this girl needs.
