My district's contract states how many duty free prep periods a teacher is to receive in a work week. If we do not receive the prep period because of specials teachers being absent and the school not being able to find a sub, we are paid for that period as a missed prep. That does not mean that you get a prep every day. One year I had 3 preps in one day and on another day I had none. Check your contract.
