I have decorated a fabric tote bag filled with birthday related books and treats. The bag goes home with the birthday child and returned the next day. Also, I include microwave popcorn, a few pieces of candy and a bag of cookie mix that they can keep and prepare with their parent. This encourages family reading time and cooking with a parent. I have also selected books that I think the child has never seen before. The kids really enjoy the "Birthday Bag!"
