Mentor

I too was asked to be a mentor during my second year of teaching. The way I lightend my load was to sit down with the other teacher and curriculum map. This is just outlining the concepts you will teach for the year ar even just a quarter. That way the lesson planning is up to the new teacher and not the mentor. I did offer to look over some of her plans if she wanted but she later said that she really liked the freedom of doing her own planning based on the curriculum that we designed together. Give it a try I think you will find that your load is lighter as a result.
