Depending on the size of your class, or the project that you choose this could get expensive, but last year we made turkey thermometers with magnets. I purchased the pattern from Oriental Trader (I believe it was $5.99 for 12 "kits") This worked really well for my class as we were just finishing up a unit on measurment and using thermometers!
