Clip to ScrapBook
As with most things, I think it is best to vary your approach. Sometimes I read the novel together as a class. Sometimes they read with a partner (their favorite) or a small group. Sometimes they read on their own. Often we will even use multiple approaches in the same session. We might start to read as a class, and they finish the chapter with a partner, a group, or on their own. The variety keeps them interested, and they like to have input as to how we will read on a given day. Sometimes I let them vote, because my goal is to get them to read, develop vocab., broaden understanding, etc. and I really don't care how we do it every single day. If it motivates them, and it's good learning, I'm for it.
