4th grade ideas
By Anneliese

Clip to ScrapBook
I also teach fourth grade. A friend shared an activity with me that I have done for the past three years. Within the first day or two I have the kids send me a post card from their summer vacation. I have a piece of tag
board that I have run off a post card template on one side and the other is for the illustration. I model the activity by creating a post card from my summer vacation and writing a letter to the class. I tell the students that it can be from a place they visited or just playing in the neighborhood with friends. It is a lot of fun and you get to preview their writing skills and their
knowledge of a personal letter format.
Another activity that I found on the internet last year is a "pop Quiz" . Put simple introductory questions in balloons, blow them up and tape them around the room. Have kids take turns popping a balloon. They can answer the question and then pick someone else to answer it too.
Hope these help.
