Minute of fame... By LindaR

This approach is VERY unconventional, and may even be critisized, but it was a workable solution for my class clown and me. We discussed it ahead of time, and his dad did not mind...He was to let me know when he felt | the urge to be the center of attention. I allowed him his "minute of fame" (timer set) in front of the class once a day. Well, this lasted maybe a week... The kids in the class got tired of his interruptions (by this time I had the Raise Responsibility approach in place, so most of my class wanted to move forward in their learning). Also, this child didn't have the urge when he realized | | that he didn't have his adoring fans anymore!I'm not saying this was the cure-all, as this child has some major personal issues, but it helped him develop a better understanding of the importance of self-control. I understand what you're going through!
