cooking ideas

Clip to ScrapBook
Having a microwave can provide the opportunity for a variety of recipes. Regarding water for cooking and clean-up, I agree that wash tubs and pitchers of water are a good way to go.

If you want to start with a really easy
project, I recommend jello. (can do safety lesson on using microwave to heat water)
Perhaps you want to consider clear plastic cups and plastic utensils to reduce washing/cleaning.

I've made "pizza crackers" with my students. Use a cracker such as triscuits. Spoon some tomato sauce, then top with grated cheese. Microwave for about a minute or until cheese melts. The kids

like this one. (if you want, you can place crackers on paper plates in the microwave then serve on napkins)

I've successfully made the Kraft macaroni & cheese that comes in a box. Microwave directions are on the box.

This year I plan on making Rice Krispy treats. Microwave directions are on the cereal box.

Hot dogs heat up well in the microwave.

A potato can be cooked with cooked veggie toppings.

In the winter I've made hot cocoa or soups (canned or powdered ones where you add water). Use mugs/bowls or hot cups. Also microwavable hot cereals.

If I think of others I'll post again. Good luck!
