nametags By Tia

I teach 6th grade at an elementary school where we departmentalize. We have a homeroom class that we teach almost every subject to--depending on the number of students, we have 2 or 3 teachers. So, 2 or 3 classes rotate| in. Our homeroom students have their own desks and nametags. During the first week of school, we give the rotating-in students some time to make nametags. These are about 6 in. by 12 in. on white tagboard--or const. paper. They are folded in half hot dog style. They colorfully and largely write their names on one side. They are instructed to find a special place in their binder to | | keep them. The students then bring the nametags to class and prop them on the desks when they sit down. I explain to them that they have only a few teachers' names to remember when we have about 80 kids' names to learn. I usually have their names down by the 3rd/4th day and tell them they may stop bringing their name tags. This works pretty well.
