Birthdays on weekends/holidays

I usually do weekend birthdays on the Friday before since my kids are always so excited that day anyway (planning their parties).For summer I've done both a half way day some years or more recently I take one day in June (near the end of school) and we celebrate all the summer birthdays.
I've found with grade 1 students they seem to be able to associate this better with their upcoming birthday than having a half-way birthday.
