Class reduction

At this district, I'm hired as a teacher that will be placed when the students have begun school. Once Central Office figures out what the actual class sizes are, they decide which grade to break down into smaller sizes. At this point, I'm in a building with a third grade teacher and helping her out (kind of feeling like I'm in the way). There are 6 elementary buildings at this district and I've been told that I could be working in any of them and that it also could be up to two weeks before I'm given a classroom and students. I personally think that's a little long to pull students out of a class in which they've already begun a routine. But I'm not complaining, because in the end...I'm TEACHING.
