Hi! Sorry for the delay. Your question reminds me that we need to further clarify our feelings on this issue. Our "BusyBoard Tips" page says:

"Please do not announce your website on ProTeacher regardless of whether or
not your site is commercial."

As we've said in the past, we try our best to keep ProTeacher's boards free from all solicitation, commercial advertising, and self-promotion. We don't want our BusyBoards used as free billboards by anyone. To that end, we monitor the boards looking for announcements and endorsements of a commercial or otherwise promotional nature. Fortunately, due to

our persistence and the support of visitors like you, we need to remove only a tiny fraction of the thousands of messages which are posted here. We're convinced that quick action and persistence discourages others from posting inappropriate messages. Occasionally, we make mistakes and remove messages unnecessarily. All told, we remove less than one-half of one percent of all messages.

It is important to note that ProTeacher is a free public web site. As such, we depend on legitimate advertising to pay the bills. ProTeacher is expensive to produce and maintain. Without advertising revenue, this site would not be possible. We need advertisers to buy legitimate advertising in order to keep ProTeacher free and available for teachers. If we allowed commercial/promotional messages on our boards, potential advertisers would have no incentive to support ProTeacher by purchasing legitimate ads. Instead, they'd simply post messages to take advantage of the free publicity. Put simply, we need advertisers staying off the boards and buying legitimate ads to keep ProTeacher free for you.

Recently, we've noticed a flurry of interest in classroom/school web pages. We welcome these to be shared as long as they are true classroom/school web pages focused on parents and children. What better way to get ideas for your classroom/school web page than to see great examples from other ProTeacher visitors!

School and school district web sites may also have helpful information specifically for teachers. We welcome these to be shared in the context of specific questions. Your link should point to a specific web page that addresses the question(s) at hand.

Of course, discussion boards wouldn't be the same without the friendly exchange of ideas. In that sense, your own words are worth a thousand links
