Letter
By Nancy T.

Clip to ScrapBook
Each teacher has his own ideas about what to include in a back to school letter to the parents. Has your principal requested you to include certain topics such as grading policies, discipline techniques that you use, etc.?

I
like to inform my parents of several key topics including: my homework policy, when I will send out progress reports, scholarship warnings, my county's grading system, how I obtain grades, my policy concerning snacks, and how they can reach me to schedule a conference.

Besides sending these letters home with my students the first week of school, I also have extra copies available

at my School' Open House. Sometimes a child may have forgotten to give his parent my letter, or it got lost. I also give a copy of my letter to my principal and have one posted in my classroom.

You may also want to include such things as your general class schedule, your policy concerning field trips and/or parties.

Hope I have helped you in some small way :-)
