All the things you mentioned such as name tags, mailboxes, job assingments, etc. work well with 5th graders. I use everything that you listed. I also put up posters of musicans and movie stars that I like and I know they like. I listen to most of the same music and they really think that is cool. They are at an age where they are not quite a baby, but not quite preteen. All they want to know is that you care and listen when they need you to listen.
