Well, here are some things I try to cover on the first few days of school:

1. Rules
2. emergency cards (hand out)
3. Get to know you activities - ice breakers
4. Identify different areas of the room
5.
Mailboxes
6. Routine for each day (established throughout the 1st few months)
7. Schedule (specials- days of gym, music etc....)
8. Hand out important letters (for parents to sign and return; emerg. cards, sched., homework, etc.)
9. Importance of Homework and getting it signed by parent/guardian
10. Role of student
11. Proper behavior
12. Pencil sharpening (when to
do it... haven't figured out how I'll do it this year yet.. =)
13. Intro of self
14. Expectations (probably included in rules/responsibilities)
15. Handing out books and initialing pencils (if necessary)
16. Fire exits
17. Attendance
18. Routines, routines, routines

What else??? I must be missing alot, but if I remember any others, I'll post... good luck =)
