what grade--here are a few ideas

What grade will you be teaching?

You can pull out all kinds of skills for whatever book. If you teach with a basal , that is all lined up for you.

If you are using trades books, then it is my guess that you will
have to pull out a lot of your own skills for the book you are using. Some come as a set with a teacher book.

You could pull out your vocabulary words(maybe a few chapters at a time depending on how long the chapters are) problem/solution, cause and effect, main idea on any story, story elements on any. I like to make flip flap books for problem/solution, cause/effect, and story elements.

I like to have them do non-traditional book reports where they have a project to create and show the class. If you could obtain the state standards and objectives for your grade level, then you could make sure you are covering them. If there is a list out there, I would like to see it too.

I hope I have been a little help to you. I'm not sure if this is even what you want. Good Luck!
