a very wise professor once told me

Clip to ScrapBook
to teach the expected behavior...let your first week or two of school be centered upon teaching behaviors and proceedures....and that's exactly what I do...I teach it to the class. Yes I do begin to teach the curriculium also but my first priority is behavior when that falls into place and you see it actually happen then you can focus on the rest....

I actually have the kids practice how to line up, how to walk quietly in the hall, how to do lunch count etc....believe me it's worth the small amount of time you use to do this at the beginning of the school year....good habits begin early and ususally are followed for the rest of the year....
