Saxon Phonics By Cherie/OK

The new edition of Saxon Phonics looks a lot better. I used the old edition last year (first year for Saxon). As I look through the new one for this year it seems better.1. No more punching out cards! All the desks are prepared for you. 2. The decodable readers are much better. The illustrations are nicer and they are pre-made. 3. There are leveled readers that go with some lessons. 4. The spelling sound sheets have changed. I felt this was a good thing too. After a while the kids were bored and so was I. You continually review but only about 10 per day. That is much more manageable. 5. | | Handwriting is incorporated into the lessons and some worksheets have handwriting lines instead of just lines for writing. 6. Rule charts were added to the back of the irregular spelling booklets as well as on the wall. 7. There are more posters. Two for writing position, one for learning/listening position, one with number words and one with color words. I didn't do a word wall with Saxon either. The sight word charts were my word wall. I used post-its to cover up the words we were testing and also to cover up the keyword that was being introduced that day. Sometimes students will already know it, but I really discourage them from telling.
Good Luck!
