I don't know!
By Tricia

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't know what I am going to do this year! The last two years have been so horrible! My husband has worked at a local plant for the last ten years and we've barely gotten by while I went to school and stacked credit
upon credit! And the student loans! So when I grgraduated in 2000 we were so happy that I would be working and we could begin to pay on all that debt! By October we were being called EVERY HOUR OF EVERY DAY by bill collectors! And the student loans! I kept holding on but I couldn't make the car payment, again and the bank said enough so I had to turn my car over! Still I hung on!
By July 2001 I was advised to file bankruptcy! I was crying everyday! I worked full-time subbing and 20 hours at Sylvan and still wasn't getting anywhere! January 2002 our bankruptcy was declared done and we are debt frree except the student loan people, that never showed up or sent the court a letter saying I owed them regardless of the bankruptcy and are now saying I owe them still! Well the courts said otherwise yet they won't leave me alone! I can't afford an attorney so I keep hanging on. I bought a car a few days after everything was discharged and keep hoping. One thing I am sure about and that is I WILL NOT SUB AGAIN!! I will not be convenient. I told the county I live in that if they wanted me in their schools then to hire me as a teacher and take me off the sub list! My husbands job will be phased out at the end of the month and he too will be unemployed! So we are going to wait until next month to sit down and figure out whether we should move or not. We don't want to but see no other choice. He said he would go to wherever I get a job and find something since I've always moved for him. We'll see. One thing for sure is that I have to stop crying! I have tossed A BUNCH of stuff I was hanging on to for MY CLASSROOM! It's way too much clutter and it has really helped! I am keeping a lot of stuff but it is all stored in our garage and ready to move wherever we decide. Now I'm working on decluttering the rest of my environment! And researching! I'm almost done with my electronic portfolio, with really cool graphics to spice it up and hope to start taking them around by the end of the week. What are you going to do? Do you have any advice? I've thought about contacting the last school I worked an interim at, it's outside of the county I live in, and seeing if they have a first grader that is struggling badly with letter id and sound tutor for free a couple of hours a week. Well, the dryer just went off so I need to fold some laundry. I didn't sleep all night because I was and am upset because school started this morning and I thought I'd be in a classroom, my classroom that I held that interim the last 3 months of last year. The teacher had died that I was hired to replace. It was so sad. Last week they put teacher that has taught in that school for 40+ years in my class. Word has it they are trying to make her retire now and not next year. I taught transitional first grade and they are a tough group. She is stubborn and so I'm sure will stick it out. Besides there is no promise that I'll get hired if she retires now. Sorry to cry but I'm so frustrated.
