here's my classroom research. i seem to have many ideas and use what works with each class in each stage of the year. one of the best ones i used last year was a chart in the front of the class called "on-task".i listed names of people who were prepared, quiet, and giving me attention at the start of class. i then used those names for special jobs and favors throughout the day, and was very sure to try to use a variety of names, rather than the same ones each time. after a few days, the list was filled and my class was very attentive. that one may not work with my next class and may not work at the same time of year, so i will then try another idea. it makes teaching interesting to come up with these new ideas.(eecummings approach to email).
