I did some research on what type of music stimulates the brain best when learning, and one study said that classical music from the Baroque period is said to stimulate the brain. I bought many cd's that have various artists in this era and we listen to it all the time during silent work. I don't know if it really stimulates my students, but when choosing between silence and classical music, they always choose the latter, and I'm getting them to enjoy a music genre they normally wouldn't want to listen to voluntarily. Hey- I just might be culturing them a little...
