Behavior/Homewoerk

Clip to ScrapBook
If your behavior chart worked well last year, then by all means, use it again. Remember that rewards don't have to be prizes that you've spent a fortune on. They can be coupons for extra computer time, lunch with the teacher,
a positive note from you to their parents. Many times, just a little extra attention is worth so much more to children than a prize. Also, if you don't start out giving prizes, chances are nobody will miss them. If you think you have to give prizes, a cheaper way to do this would be to give out tickets and pull 5 names at the end of the week, and those 5 would get to choose a
prize.

I teach 5th grade, and I don't reward students on a daily basis for turning in assignments. At the end of each 10-week marking period, I reward students who have done all of their homework with a homework pass. I make a big deal about passing them out, and my students appreciate the recognition they receive for their hard work. (For students who don't have their homework, I have a stamp that says "MISSING HOMEWORK." I stamp their agenda books, which the parents must sign weekly.)
