Here are a few ideas to get you started: The Teacher From the Black Lagoon (or any from that series), Lunch Money and Other Poems About School, Chester's Way, Julius Baby of the World, or anything by Kevin Henkes. How I Spent My Summer Vacation, Officer Buckle and Gloria, Animals Should Definitely Not Wear Clothing, Miss Rumphius, Song and Dance Man, Dogs Don't Wear Sneakers or any by Laura Numeroff. Is this your first year teaching, or just your first year in second grade?
