Here is a great resource for what you want to do: Words Their Way, by Donald Bear, Marcia Invernizzi, Shane templeton, and Francine Johnston. It talks about the stages of spelling development, tells how to assess your students, and gives ideas for implementing developmental spelling in your room. Their are many games and activities for you to use. Good luck!
