Life Skills
By Jessica

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach a high school self contained class. We use a functional curriculum. I teach only the basic academic skills and life skills. Remedia publications has great books for life skills. There are books on everything from
following directions, balancing check books, grocery shopping, menu math, and even health and nutrition books. I use the newspaper very often in my class. I give the students questions they need to use the paper to answer. I use the classifieds often. I also use the TV guide. You can use just about any ad you find. You'd be surprised how many students can't read them. I also
use apartment and car finder books that they give out in the front of the grocery store. Best of all they are free. I take my students to the grocery store and have them locate items from a list. Well sorry to run on. These are just a few of the things I do. Let me know if you could use anything else.
