Discipline Systems are Just Fine
By Shannon

Clip to ScrapBook
I think it's good advice to tell somebody that being caring and friendly helps with discipline, but I really think the advice of that last post would be better suited to somebody who has more experience. A new teacher SHOULD come in with a discipline system ... otherwise you'll be freaking out and your year won't go as well. Also, why shouldn't Rachel seek out advice from other teachers? And what if they're the ones who are more available, and the principal is unavailable or not interested?

She's looking for concrete advice right now, not a bunch of idealistic philosophy. Don't get me wrong, I mean I don't disagree with what Abdou is saying, it's just that it doesn't specifically adress the original poster's current needs or situation.
