Just some extra tips

1. As far as I know, you don't need to pay royalties for music as long as you ask for donations, not admission.

2. Get parents involved as captains: "Costume captain," "Publicity Capt." etc. Ask for parent volunteers
to help chaperone practices.

3. Eighth graders love the responsibility of being the behind the scenes crew.

4. If you have time, create a schedule where you work with smaller groups of students for short periods of time. Much easier when youdon't have tons of kids with nothing to do!

5. I would suggest starting off with a series of one acts. Managing transitions from scene to

scene in theater is very difficult for directors as well as students. You may want to start off with something easier.

6. Good luck! It is a lot of work, but one of the most rewarding experiences that students can have.
