discipling system

Clip to ScrapBook
I just reread your post and thought I could contribute to this aspect too. I teach third grade and use the card flipping system sometimes called the stoplight model. Each student gets 4 colored cards in a library pocket
on their desk. The colors are green, yellow, orange, and red...remember that this works as stoplight so students want to remain on green, yellow tells them to think about what they are doing and slow down, orange in another warning card, red is office or note/call home. More specifically when a student loses green nothing happens it is like getting your name on the board. If a student
loses yellow they miss 5 min of recess, orange 10 min of recess and red is all+principal or note/call home. Every day they start over on green no matter what happened the day before. Students who stay on their green card all day recieve a stamp on a white index card also inside of thier pocket. Once they get 10 stamps they can choose out of the prize box.

This plan works well for me because it is quick and does not detract from teaching. Students have many opportunities to correct their behavior with clear rewards and consequences. If you search around I think you will find a lot of teachers in many different grade levels use this system.
