regarding rules and consequences
By Rachel Covert

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi! This is my first year teaching, so I am also still pondering what I will be using as a discipline system. I will also be teaching second grade. For positive reinforcement, I am going to use lunch club. The seating arrangement
in my classroom will be groups. If students are working quietly, on task, etc, they will receive a point for their group. On Friday, the group with the most points will be able have lunch club. They will eat in the classroom with me. I will provide an extra treat for them and give them a sticker of their choice. They will also be allowed to play board games if they choose to stay
in for recess. I've seen it done in other classes, and it seems to work.
As for consequences for negative behavior, I am still having a problem coming up with a system. I like the idea using the shapes and the clothespins. My consequences will be:
1)Warning
2) Loss of priviledges
3) Loss of recess
4) Call home to parents
5) Meeting with Principal and parents

Hope this helps! I know I am not a veteran teacher, but I've seen these things work in other classrooms.
