Clip to ScrapBook
On the first dy of school I put one puzzle peice in each students desk. I generally use a 24 peice puzzle. I always keep the middle peice. We assemble it on the board with masking tape to hold it up. As we are putting it
together, I talk about how we are a group and a group needs to work together as one group. When it is time for the last peice I ask them who needs to keep this group together and working well, and of course the answer is the teacher, and I go to my desk and get the last peice to the puzzle. This activity get the group talking.
ALso I each child has a brown bag with 3 M+M's in it. On
poster board I drew all the colors of M+M's and next to each color wrote something that I wanted to know fromeach student...
brown- tell me about your family
red - do you have pets?
yellow- what is your favorite color?
ans so on and so forth.... when i call a student name they pick out one M+M and respond to the question. We go around three times until everyone has a turn. This game give an opportunity to get to know each other. I also take a brown bag and
play the game- they love hearing about their teachers. I always check to see if someone is allergic to chocolate and will substitute Skittles or Reeses Peices. At the end of the game we eat the M+M's
