Middle School Interview
By Val

Clip to ScrapBook
Hey, B.B.,
Relax, take a deep breath. I don't know if this message will get to you in time. I have worked as a Resource Aide at the middle school level for 6 years. In that time, we have had 4 Resource teachers.
The most important thing that our general ed. teachers want is a Resource teacher that will stay for more than one year. Consistency within the program is sooooo important. Also, see if you can find out the level of the RSP students (mild, severe,etc.).
Does the school have a pull-out program or are the students mainstreamed for the whole day? How are the IEPs handled-at one time or
spaced throughout the year? Will you have an Aide? Make sure to stress that you will work diligently to keep the teachers up to date on any changes to a student's program. The teachers at my school are so often left out of the loop. The teachers can't properly prepare of a student if they aren't appraised of the IEP requirements. I could tell you a dozen more things. Let me know idf you need any more tips. By the way, I'm looking for a regular ed. job, no luck yet.
Val
