Shorter periods

Clip to ScrapBook
2nd grade isn't that big of a jump, since I've heard that 2nd grade is similar to 1st, but just more in - depth. WhatI was taught previously was to plan 10-20 minute mini lessons for an overall strategy you want them to learn. For example- Let's say you want them to practice rhyming. One small lesson would be shared reading with a rhyming book. Then switch to a short activity where they match pictures that rhyme. Then have them write words that rhyme. This way your getting in different ways of teaching the same idea. Do you have any plans from when you taught first grade many years ago? Maybe that could help you.
