magnetic whiteboards
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
I have magnetic whiteboards in my room. They are horribly heavy, and I'm pretty sure the stuff you can buy at Home Depot is not magnetic. I've used magnetic paint before but not the whiteboard paint. The trouble with the
magnetic paint is that you need to paint on several coats to make it truly magnetic. It doesn't come out very smooth, either. So I have a couple of ideas that might work for you -
You could buy sheet metal in the correct size and then coat it with the whiteboard paint OR with press-on whiteboard contact paper which I've seen available in teacher supply stores. You'd want your hardware
store to round the edges of your board for you and you'll need to use gloves when you are working with it.

Another idea would be to cover your chalkboard with the laminate as your principal suggested and add a stick-on strip of magnet at the upper and lower edges where you could then stick magnetic stuff. It's not a great solution, but it's probably the most affordable.
