continents
By Joan

Clip to ScrapBook
If you want to stick with your seven continents plan, you could really make it work. I have a friend who did this, and she loved it! She used literature that corresponded with each continent. In writing, they did both
research and creative writing related to the continent. For science, they studied animals from each of the continents. Even her math activities were able to fit the theme. She also had the students learn games from the different continents (some of which were outdoor games done at p.e.).

And, here's the kicker... at Open House (near the end of the year), the kids had passports at

their desks with which the parents took a "world tour" of the room. As they visited each continent, they placed a sticker on their passport (she had cute themed stickers at each area... ie: kangaroos in Australia). The parents were encouraged to ask questions of their children. It was really great!
