token economy
By Maria

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 2nd grade and am planning on using the token system. I will give my students one ticket for comiing in quietly and getting to work, one ticket for coming to school (this will make sure all students receive at least
one),and one ticket for having good behavior that day (I will give this ticket the next morning along with the morning ticket). Students can redeem their tickets to use the bathroom. I give them several "free" breaks during the day but extras cost. Students can also use tickets to sharpen pencils. I will let them sharpen pencils at the beginning and end of school. ON Fridays or every
other Friday, I will open up the "class store" and students can "buy" items with their tickets. As the year goes on I may "charge" students for late homework.

I used a similar system with 6th grade during student teaching only I held an auction on Fridays. I am hoping this works on a lower level. Any suggestions on this idea are welcomed. I would like to know if anyone has tried this and if so, how did it work.
