Probably my favorite are my number cards. I teach kindergarten and needed some number cards for the calendar area walls. I didn't like all those cutesy premade ones. They have a face on everything! I used my graphics| program to make up a set. They have a large number and the number of items underneath it. For my first set up to 10, I used dinos. The second set up to 20 had insects, which worked out great with the insect unit we were studying. I printed them out on lightweight tagboard (2 per sheet) and laminated them. Another thing I like to make is nametags. My K's are hard on nametags and they | | get expensive to buy. So, I started making my own nametags for the tables with my program too. I make and print out a sheet of clip art to match our present theme (gingerbread men, insects, dinos, etc.) then cut them out and glue them to short pieces of sentence strips. Write the name and adhere with contact paper. They look great and the kids loved them. Right now I'm making ABC books on the computer for my different themes, too. And they were easy to e-mail to my kindergarten colleagues, who could print them out at no cost to me. I print mine out on lightweight tag, laminate and use binder rings to hold them together. They make a nice addition to my classroom library!
