morning activity

Clip to ScrapBook
Hermie,
could you do center/enriching type activities? I don't mean elaborate activities, but just a few things to keep them busy like an ongoing puzzle center, or a logic puzzle/problem of the day, or perhaps a coloring
activity (even though I teach 5th, I sometimes have my students do "coloring" sheets where they have a page with many different shaped boxes that are connected, and in those boxes I have them complete a theme- ex: pictures to describe themselves, character drawings for a novel we are studying, s.s. unit pictures to go w/our unit of study, etc). I have Brain Quest cards in my room that
they like to quiz each other on, or flashcards.
I don't know how much noise you want in the mornings, but you could train them on how you want them to come into the room, choose an activity, and work there until the bell rings (that way they wouldn't be switching constantly from center to center and when one center is full they have to find someplace else to be).
