I was a second-career teacher...older. Whenever asked by children I always said "This is my first year teaching here." Parents didn't ask -- just assumed I had been teaching for years. One parent was hired as a teaching assistant later in the year. One day she asked where I had taught before. I told her I was a first-year teacher. She couldn't believe it. She said she would have asked to have her child taken out of my class if she had known I was only a first-year teacher. By that point I had proven to her and the others that I knew what I was doing.Good luck.
