One of the best books I have come across in the last year is Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel. Some of the kids were reading the sequel Sunwing before we even finished it. A third in the series will be published in February. I read this aloud to fourth graders - difficult for some of them to read on their own. Definitely good for fifth and sixth graders.
