It's amazing that anyone has even called your references. I have been on countless interviews and noone has ever called my references. Can't you just delete the principal from your list and add some teachers that you had good relationships with? Also, if you are very motivated during an interview, that is usually enough to impress the administration. Be sure to ask about after school programs and that you would love to be a part of them. I think that's what landed me my job. Don't give up if you believe in yourself.
