Have listed the Ohio DOE's on "my favorites". I found out over the weekend that the school district just over the state line hired an English teacher last week. great Oh well.
Note to Manohar: From what I understand,
in some areas there is a shortage--inner city schools particularly. Most of the teachers you find on these pages are looking for jobs "close to home" because of family obligations--or whatever their own reasons. Mine? I have an 80 year old mother, and I would not leave her "alone". Indiana is in the middle of a budget crisis, and our schools are tightening their budgets. Some schools

are just not replacing teachers who leave. In the city where I live, the school district closed two of four middle schools, and two of six elementarys. Those teachers not reassigned will be first to be rehired if someone leaves.
The Ohio state's website lists over 500 jobs available. Many of those are probably filled. Out of all those, I found only one listing that was in my subject, and close enough to home. I have been working at this for hours each day, all summer---and so far, I am still looking. Why are they working day and night to find teachers? I don't know, you'll have to ask them!
