Essay and Referral Sheet...
By LindaR

Clip to ScrapBook

The purpose of the essay is to: "1) isolate the disrupting student, and 2) give the student a responsibility-producing activity to have the student think about his/her disruption." There are a couple of samples for different
grade levels. Questions to be answered are: 1) What did I do? 2) Think of what can I do to prevent it from happening again by listing three possibilities that would be acceptable to everyone 3) What will I do?

The self-diagnostic referrals are handled several different ways (letter at beginning of year sent home to parent to explain): First ref. is handles btween teacher and

student. If second ref. is necessary, a copy of the first and second are sent home. If a third ref. is necessary, a copy of all three are sent home, and future irresponsible behavior will be referred to the school office.

Hope this explains a little more. I can only go by the manual and notes from the conference...I'm hoping to get the book before school starts. There are others on this board who have the book, so if you need more clarification, don't hesitate to ask! It's great having support, isn't it?
